No, it's because there's so fucking much Gintama that the only people actually scoring it are huge fans, but it's not popular enough to get antivotes. Same goes for Legend of Galactic Heroes.

The easiest things to point at in regards to aggregates being busted.

If you understand that, then just take it into account when using the rankings. It's the same with reviews or whatever. They're much more useful if you know the context.

Might have been an extreme example, but the mere fact that MAL's aggregate claims that only 15 shows ever made are over a 9 should be enough of a red flag on it's own.

Eh, IMDB only has four 9+ movies. It's just hard for stuff to get absurdly high scores on aggregate sites.

Aggregate scores in general are pretty worthless, but MAL's are noticeably bad even by those standards. Popular shows of the season almost always soar to the top before sliding back down with rare exception.

I'll always value the opinions of individuals I know share similar tastes to me than "these 1000 people have decided this show is a 7.62 and this other show is a 7.67, which then seperates their ranking by over 100 shows." All it takes to realize how busted the system is is seeing that 25% of the top 20 are different Gintama shows and movies, and that's not even shade towards Gintama.

That said if something has a 4 then yeah there's probably a problem, but you should treat any aggregate score on that site between a 7 and a 9 as basically on equal footing.

But there's always going to be that case where a show with a 9.3 is still something you don't like.

Nobody uses scores to tell the difference between a 7.62 show and a 7.67 show. Don't be ridiculous.

I check MAL scores, but only because if something is ranked in the 6000s there's probably a reason and a sign I should at least look a bit deeper. I'm not going to let a ranking in the 3000s stop me from watching Strike Witches next, though!

The second half has been terrible in a lot of ways. It's good when it's doing what it does best (Yamada helping people who are troubled by their powers) but everything else is awful. Even the first half wasn't that good when it was focusing on villains, so I dunno why the author decided to go all out with that in the second half. Like...what the hell are they even trying to accomplish? ugh.

Less Shiraishi is pretty lame too considering that she's basically the premise of the series...

Ugh. Has anyone here read the Yamada and the Seven Witches manga? It's kinda annoying how bad everything in the second half is. Right now I'm mostly annoyed by how the author can't use Nene's character at all. Everything involving her is fucking terrible. I dunno why the author made her so completely incompetent at everything and increased her screentime so much.

It was Zin in the original, and they changed it to Zane in the English version to make it sound more American. Then they realized he's from a country of people with Asian culture and Asian-sounding names, so they changed it back to Zin.

Also, amusingly, Char's voice actor plays Aegaeon while Amuro plays Godfrey, and they're right next to each other on the Blades screen. I always love hearing them in stuff, especially since Tohru Furuya doesn't do much nowadays. I wonder if they have any dialogue with each other?

Great episode of Discovery this week. Lots of cool action. Michelle Yeoh kicking like a boss. Not sure about the twists at the end - I guess those'll be what takes up the rest of the season?

I liked Lorca a lot, so I'm definitely sad that he's gone. Wouldn't be too shocking to get him back in some fashion, but I guess we'll see. I wasn't a fan of original Georgiou either, but Mirror version is somewhat more interesting, so if they do some cool stuff with her it won't have been too bad of a trade.

You're right that S2 makes the disability part much better. I definitely like the explanation that they had new bodies created, and I think they were always very good with Togo in the wheelchair. I still hated S1's ending when I watched it though, and we had to live with it for three years before S2 was created.

For humanity being on their own: most of the main characters greatly disliked Shinju/Amnesty, so that part felt more like a triumph than a loss.

I've noticed a few Rare Blade quests I'm doing referencing Tantal opening its borders though that hasn't happened yet. I guess I probably shouldn't be doing all these sidequests in the middle of an important story quest...

...on a side note, I actually really like how much freedom you have in this to do things whenever you want. Quick Travel is never disabled during story quests, even if you're arrested or something, so you can go get stuff whenever you like. It's neat to have such power.

Prequel season was actually one of my preferred parts for a couple reasons. I thought the slice of lifey comedy stuff was way better and more natural here than the other two parts. The second half of S1 was particularly bad in this regard, IIRC. Episode 7 and 8 or so were totally trite. It also had by far the best ending of the three parts, with no dumb copouts. The final season kinda didn't have those either, but it was basically a completely happy ending framed as a bittersweet victory for some reason? The bad guy's dead, the sketchy good guy is dead, all the main characters are alive. I liked episodes 2-4 a good amount, but the stuff with Yuna getting married to Shinju and whatever was all dumb.. And I've mentioned this before, but I hated S1's ending. It was really building up to greatness and you could've had a bittersweet ending where the girls learn to be happy despite their disabilities. But of course, this is Japan, where the handicapped are treated as second-class citizens, so obviously they couldn't ever be truly happy, and they had to be fixed. bleh

Incidentally, her given name is Yuna while her family name is Yuki.

swordz, is there a reason you're not using a Support Jack in the Assassin Daily? You should be using a strong support with the 5* CE if possible, and Jack does great damage against females with her NP.

Nobody said anything about tradition. Sonic games were designed to have a sprite that size. Mega Man games were not. MM7 uses the same design without compensating for a bigger sprite, and the game suffers for it.

Xenoblade is pretty top tier. Umineko was amazingly consistent over 8 games.

Longer series don't fit as well. Mega Man has mediocre entries like 8 while Final Fantasy has stuff like FF2.
